Credit Union History
In May of 1940 a federal credit union was born. A group of 111 Lawrence Paper Company employees came together to form Jayhawk Federal Credit Union. Among the founding members of the credit union were the first Board of Directors Ralph Bailey, Roy Anderson, Calvin Fields, Howard Hallmark, and Joe Bear.
Justin D Hill Sr., the president of Lawrence Paper Company was an original member of the credit union. The Lawrence Paper Company is the sponsor group of the credit union, and they have always provided office space for us. The first credit union office was located in the old paper mill, which was on the Kansas River in downtown Lawrence.
The credit union moved to our current location of 2901 Lakeview Rd, in September of 1997. We continue to grow and expand the services we offer to our members. Our membership now consists of 1038 shareholders and our assets are 2.35 million dollars. Through our members' faithful and continuous patronage we will continue to grow and strive to provide new services to benefit everyone.
Field of Membership
Jayhawk Federal Credit Union has a closed field of membership. You may join the credit union through our sponsor group the Lawrence Paper Company or any of its subsidiaries; Perry Manufacturing, Jayhawk Boxes, or Brad Systems. Families of current members are eligible to join the credit union.

Important Information about procedures for opening a new account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
